Dive centre in-house vs nearby
Eight properties on this page have an in-house dive centre. The advantage is simplicity: boat, briefing, gear and your bed are all in the same place. The trade-off is that some properties have fewer rooms and limited amenities. If you are flexible about which operator you dive with, staying at a comfortable guesthouse without a dive centre and walking to a nearby centre is often a better overall experience. Fuvahmulah’s southern area is compact, and no property is more than a short taxi ride from Tiger Harbour.
Pool or no pool

Fuvahmulah accommodation costs: what you actually pay
Room rates on this page are indicative and exclude taxes. All accommodation in the Maldives attracts TGST of 17% and Green Tax at USD 6 per person per night for guesthouses. On a USD 70 room for two people for 7 nights, that adds approximately USD 84 in tax plus USD 84 in Green Tax, around USD 168 in total additional costs. Factor this in when budgeting.
Domestic flights from Malé to FVM are a significant additional cost. Fares vary by date and availability; check current prices with Maldivian airline before confirming your guesthouse booking. Dive packages bundling accommodation, domestic flights and daily dives often represent better overall value than booking each element separately. Ask us to put together a combined plan.
Low season savings: June to August is typically the cheapest period to stay on Fuvahmulah. The southwest monsoon brings rougher surface conditions but tiger sharks are still resident year-round, thresher shark cleaning stations are active, and guesthouse rates drop noticeably. For divers who are flexible on timing, low season is excellent value.

There are no overwater villas and no resort beaches. If you want a resort experience, the practical approach is a split stay combining Fuvahmulah with a resort island elsewhere in the Maldives.
Do Fuvahmulah guesthouses include breakfast?
Yes. Every property listed on this page includes breakfast in the room rate. Most serve a standard Maldivian or continental breakfast. If you want half board or packed lunches for dive days, ask your chosen property when booking, as this varies and typically costs extra.
Can you get alcohol in Fuvahmulah guesthouses?
No. Fuvahmulah is an inhabited local island and a Muslim community. Alcohol is not sold or served anywhere on the island, including in all guesthouses. Room rates start from around USD 52 per night at budget homestays and go up to USD 105 per night at the premium hotel-style properties, all including breakfast. Add TGST of 17% and Green Tax at USD 6 per person per night. Prices vary by season, with low season (June to August) typically offering the best rates. Is Fuvahmulah suitable for families with children?
It can work for families, but choose carefully. Thirteen properties have family rooms. The island’s open-ocean setting means public swimming is limited and requires local advice before entering the water. The freshwater lakes and Nature Park boardwalk are good for children. The island is large enough to explore by motorbike or taxi. Ocean Pearl Fuvahmulah, Ataraxis Grand and Spa, Isle Inn, Equator Retreat and Suffix Retreat are among the more family-suited options. If young children need a calm beach to swim on freely, a lagoon island or resort will suit them better.
Do guesthouses include airport pickup from FVM?
Most properties include or arrange FVM airport pickup, but confirm this before your domestic flight. The airport is in the south of the island and a short taxi ride from most guesthouses. Let your property know your exact domestic flight arrival time so someone is there when you land.
