Maldives honeymoon Β· Updated October 2026 Β· By Abdulla Maseeh

Luxury Honeymoon in the Maldives

For a luxury honeymoon in the Maldives, our favourite resorts are Soneva Jani for overwater villas with slides, Kudadoo for an all-inclusive island of just 15 residences, Huvafen Fushi for a grown-up island near the airport, and Anantara Kihavah or Conrad Rangali for dinner under the sea. December to April is the driest time to go, and seven to ten nights is the sweet spot.

Four ways to do a luxury honeymoon

Before you pick a resort, pick the style. It decides the villa, the island and how your days feel.

  1. 1

    Overwater villa

Wake up over the lagoon, swim off your own deck and watch the sunset from a private pool. The classic Maldives honeymoon.

Best for: first-time visitors and water lovers

  2. 2

    Beach villa

More space, shade and privacy behind the palms, with the sand a few steps away. Better for long stays and hot afternoons.

Best for: couples who want room to spread out

  3. 3

    Small, quiet island

Resorts with 15 to 50 villas, often with age limits, where you hear the sea more than other guests.

Best for: couples who want calm above all

  4. 4

    Split stay

Two resorts in one trip: an overwater villa for the wow, then a beach villa or private island for the slow days.

Best for: trips of ten nights or more

Not sure? Most couples start with an overwater villa. See our honeymoon water villas guide for the villas themselves.

Adults-focused and quiet islands

Few luxury resorts in the Maldives are strictly adults-only, but these keep children to older ages or give adults their own space. Expect quieter pools, calmer restaurants and fewer splashes at breakfast.

Age rules change and some apply only to certain villas. We confirm the policy for your dates before you book.

Honeymoon perks and how to claim them

Many Maldives resorts treat honeymooners to something extra. It might be sparkling wine on arrival, a cake, a decorated bed, a candlelit bath or, at some resorts, a dinner or spa treatment. Anantara Kihavah, for example, offers a welcome amenity, Champagne, a bath ritual and bed decoration.

  • Tell the resort you are on honeymoon when you book, not on arrival.
  • Expect to send a copy of your marriage certificate.
  • Travel within the resort’s window after the wedding, often 12 months.
  • Some perks need a minimum stay; we check this for you.

Luxury Maldives honeymoon: your questions answered

Which is the best luxury honeymoon resort in the Maldives?

It depends on what you want most. For an overwater icon, Soneva Jani. For everything included, Kudadoo. For an adults-focused island near the airport, Huvafen Fushi. For underwater dining, Anantara Kihavah or Conrad Rangali. Tell us your dates and style and we will shortlist two or three.

Overwater or beach villa for a honeymoon?

Most couples want at least a few nights over the water. Overwater villas are the classic Maldives moment; beach villas give more space and shade. On longer trips, a split stay gives you both.

Are there adults-only luxury resorts in the Maldives?

Fully adults-only luxury resorts are rare, but several are adults-focused: Huvafen Fushi takes guests from 12, Milaidhoo, Kandolhu and Baros from 8, and Conrad Rangali sets one of its two islands aside for adults. See our adults-only guide.

Do Maldives resorts give honeymoon perks?

Many do: often sparkling wine, a cake, bed decoration or a romantic bath, and sometimes a dinner or spa treatment. Resorts usually ask for a copy of your marriage certificate and for you to travel within a set time of the wedding, often 12 months. We list what each resort offers in your quote.

When is the best time for a Maldives honeymoon?

December to April is the driest, sunniest and busiest time. May to November has more showers and wind, with better availability and many sunny days. If your wedding date is fixed, any month works with the right resort.

How many nights should a Maldives honeymoon be?

Seven to ten nights is the sweet spot. Shorter than five and the transfers take a bigger share of your time; longer than ten and a split stay between two resorts keeps it fresh.

Can we combine the Maldives with another country?

Yes. Sri Lanka is the most popular pairing, with short flights to MalΓ©. See our Sri Lanka and Maldives honeymoon guide.

How much does a luxury Maldives honeymoon cost?

It depends on the resort, villa, season, meal plan and transfers, so we do not publish live rates. Send your dates and we will quote two or three resorts with every inclusion and perk listed.

Tell us about your honeymoon

Send your dates, how many nights and the style you have in mind. We will come back with two or three resorts, the best villa at each, the honeymoon perks and a full written quote with transfers and taxes.
