Stay-and-dive packages on Dhigurah are some of the best-value diving in the Maldives. Here’s what they really cost, why two similar packages can be priced differently, and how we get you a checked quote with no booking fees.
Check package rates on WhatsAppDhigurah dive packages currently start from around USD 900 per person for a short 3-night, 5-dive stay. A 5 to 7-night package, which suits most divers, tends to run between roughly USD 970 and 1,900 depending on your room, meal plan, number of dives, equipment and transfers. Longer 10 to 14-night holidays move into the USD 1,990 to 3,900 range. Most packages bundle accommodation, boat dives, a guide, tanks and a return speedboat from Malé.
In short: the price gap between two similar packages is almost always about accommodation tier and what’s included, not a markup. We confirm live rates and inclusions before quoting, and we don’t charge a booking fee.
A stay-and-dive package bundles your room, boat dives, guide and gear into one price.
These are public planning anchors from Dhigurah operators and guesthouses, not fixed HolidayVibe rates. They give you a realistic sense of the spread before we check live prices for your dates:
| Package | Planning range (per person) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 3 nights / 5 dives | From around USD 900 | Short diving add-on |
| 4 nights / 6 dives | From around USD 1,105 | Short but more relaxed stay |
| 5 nights / 6 dives | Around USD 970 to 1,300 | Starter dive holiday |
| 5 nights / 9–10 dives | Around USD 1,300 to 1,430 | Keen divers, limited time |
| 7 nights / 10 dives | Around USD 1,360 to 1,900 | Best balance for most divers |
| 10 nights / 16 dives | Around USD 1,990 to 2,800 | Serious recreational trip |
| 14 nights / 24 dives | Around USD 2,710 to 3,900 | Long holiday with weather buffer |
Read these as ranges, not quotes. Prices move with season, room occupancy, board basis, number of dives, equipment, transfers, taxes, minimum numbers and live availability. We check current rates and inclusions with the supplier before preparing your quote. For the national picture, see our guide to Maldives diving costs.
This is the part that confuses people. You’ll see one 5-night, 6-dive package at USD 970 and another at USD 1,300, and assume someone’s overcharging. Usually they’re not. The difference is what’s wrapped into the price:
| What changes the price | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Accommodation tier | A basic guesthouse room costs far less than a deluxe or boutique dive-hotel room |
| Room occupancy | Single, double and triple rates differ; solo travellers often pay a supplement |
| Meal plan | Bed and breakfast is cheaper than full board |
| Number of dives | The same nights can include 5, 6, 9 or 10 dives |
| Equipment | Some packages include full kit; others charge for BCD and regulator |
| Boat fees and taxes | Some prices include them; some add them on-site |
| Transfers | Return speedboat is bundled in many packages, but not all |
So the cheapest headline price isn’t always the best value. A package that looks dearer may already include gear, full board and transfers that the cheaper one charges separately. That’s exactly what we untangle before you book.
Most Dhigurah packages are guesthouse stays, which is what keeps them well below resort prices.
As a rough reference, operators often charge around USD 60 for an extra dive and a few dollars per dive for BCD and regulator rental, though these drift and need checking live. “Included” genuinely varies from one package to the next, so it pays to compare like for like.
| Stay | Best for | Typical dives |
|---|---|---|
| 3 nights | A quick add-on, only if your flight timing works | 4–5 |
| 4 nights | Short but with a buffer afternoon | 6 |
| 5 nights | A relaxed starter dive holiday | 6–10 |
| 7 nights | The sweet spot, with a whale shark attempt and a rest day | 10 |
| 10 nights | Serious diving with more site variety | 16 |
| 14 nights | A dive-focused holiday with a weather buffer | 24 |
Two practical notes. Build in a no-dive day before you fly, since you shouldn’t fly for at least 18 to 24 hours after diving. And don’t over-pack the schedule, two dives a day for several days is more tiring than it sounds. See the full overview on our Dhigurah diving guide.
A typical package runs scheduled boat dives, often two in the morning and one in the afternoon.
The right package depends on where you are in your diving.
If you’re certified, a 5-night/6-dive or 7-night/10-dive package gives you a good run at the thilas and the outer reef. Consider an Advanced Open Water refresher if you want the deeper, current-swept pinnacles like Kudarah Thila. And if you’re diving several days in a row, Nitrox is worth adding: sites like Kudarah sit you around 20 to 25 metres in current, and enriched air gives you longer no-decompression limits and more comfortable surface intervals. Just check whether your operator includes it or charges per tank.
If you’re new, look at a Discover Scuba session or a full Open Water course, paired with fewer dives and more rest time so you’re not rushed. You’ll start on the easier reefs before anything with current.
One honest steer for beginners: don’t choose your course around whale sharks. Whale shark encounters are usually a snorkelling activity near the surface, open to non-divers anyway, so pick your dive training for comfort and confidence, not for one animal. More on that on our Dhigurah whale shark page.
Yes. The local centres are PADI dive centres, so a course slots straight into a stay-and-dive package. Here’s roughly what fits whom:
| You are | Course to consider | Rough cost |
|---|---|---|
| Never dived | Discover Scuba (a guided try-dive, no certification) | Around USD 145 to 160 |
| Want to certify | PADI Open Water, usually 3 to 4 days | Around USD 650 to 850+ |
| Already certified | Advanced Open Water, or a refresher if it’s been a while | Ask at booking |
| Diving several days | Nitrox (enriched air) specialty | Often a small per-tank charge |
Course materials and certification fees are sometimes separate from the headline price, so we confirm what’s included before quoting. Tell us your level and we’ll build the right course into your package.
Dhigurah has dive packages to suit very different travellers. Rather than name operators, here’s how the styles break down so you know what you’re choosing between:
Bed-and-breakfast guesthouse stay with scheduled boat dives and transfers. Best for budget-conscious certified divers who don’t mind a simpler room.
Meals, equipment and return speedboat bundled in. Easy and predictable, good if you’d rather not count extras.
A set 3 to 5-night stay with a fixed number of dives and transfers. Good for short trips and combo itineraries.
A boutique dive-hotel that keeps groups small and plans your diving day by day, often with marine-life briefings. Best for divers who want a more guided rhythm than the cheapest option.
A comfortable hotel stay with meals and a set “dive more” count. For travellers who want hotel comfort alongside their diving.
We’ll match the style to what you actually want, then check live rates for the specific places that fit.
Boutique dive-hotels keep groups small and plan each day around conditions and your level.
| Dhigurah package | Resort dive holiday | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Usually better value | Usually more expensive |
| Setting | Local guesthouse island | Private island resort |
| Alcohol | Not served on the island | Available at most resorts |
| Whale shark access | Strong, in South Ari | Depends on the resort’s location |
| Feel | More local, more relaxed | More luxury and privacy |
If you want both value and a touch more comfort, ask us to compare a Dhigurah package against a South Ari resort. We work across both.
Most people diving Dhigurah also want a whale shark day. Some packages build a whale shark snorkel into the rhythm; others run it as a separate, charged excursion. Worth knowing: scuba isn’t usually the best way to meet a whale shark, since they cruise near the surface, so even committed divers tend to do this as a snorkel.
Sightings are possible year-round in South Ari but never guaranteed. We can fold a whale shark trip into your package and time it for your better-chance days. The full detail is on our Dhigurah whale shark experiences page.
How we price things. We treat published operator packages as planning anchors, never as fixed quotes. Before we send you a price, we check live availability, current inclusions and any seasonal supplement with the supplier, so what you see is the real all-in cost for your dates, with no booking fee from us.
We’re a Maldives-based agency, so we deal with the operators directly. The process is simple:
No booking fee, no pressure, and an honest read on which package is the best value for what you want.
Send your dates, divers and dive count. We’ll compare live options and come back with the real all-in price.
As a planning guide, short 3-night packages start from around USD 900 per person, 5 to 7-night packages run roughly USD 970 to 1,900, and longer 10 to 14-night holidays sit around USD 1,990 to 3,900. The exact price depends on accommodation, meals, dive count, equipment, transfers, taxes and season, so we confirm live rates before quoting.
Most packages include accommodation, scheduled boat dives with a guide, tanks and weights, and often a return speedboat transfer and taxes. Many include full board. Equipment rental, Nitrox, extra dives, whale shark trips and course materials are commonly charged on top, so check the inclusions carefully.
Almost always because of accommodation tier and inclusions, not a markup. A basic guesthouse room on bed and breakfast costs far less than a boutique dive-hotel room on full board with gear and transfers included. Comparing like for like is the only way to judge real value.
Five to seven nights suits most divers. A 7-night package with around 10 dives gives time for the range of sites, a whale shark attempt and a rest day. Leave a no-dive day before flying, since you shouldn’t fly for at least 18 to 24 hours after diving.
Many do include a return speedboat between Malé and Dhigurah, but not all, so it’s worth confirming. The crossing takes roughly 2 to 2.5 hours across open water, and in the shoulder-monsoon months a choppy sea can cause delays, so don’t book a tight onward connection. If you’re travelling with heavy camera gear or would rather skip the long boat ride, ask us about a domestic flight to Maamigili plus a short ferry instead. If your flight lands late, you may need an overnight in Malé before the morning boat, which we factor into the plan.
Yes. Local centres run Discover Scuba sessions and full PADI Open Water courses year-round, and you can build a course into a stay-and-dive package. Beginners do best with fewer dives and more rest time, starting on the easier reefs before anything with current.
It depends on the operator. Some include Nitrox for qualified divers, others charge for it or offer it as an add-on. If you’re Nitrox certified and want it, tell us and we’ll confirm availability and any cost before quoting.
Yes. Some packages build in a whale shark snorkel; others run it as a separate excursion. Since whale sharks usually stay near the surface, snorkelling is the better method even for divers. Sightings are possible year-round in South Ari but never guaranteed.
Often, yes. Many packages quote per person based on two sharing, so solo travellers may pay a single supplement, and some shared dive trips need a minimum number of divers to run on a given day. We check these conditions for your dates before confirming.
Usually, yes. A local-island guesthouse package is typically better value than a private resort dive holiday for a similar number of dives, though resorts offer more luxury, privacy and alcohol on-site. We can compare a Dhigurah package against a South Ari resort if you want to weigh value against comfort.
No. We don’t add a booking fee. We check live operator rates and inclusions, compare suitable options, and send you a clear quote with the real all-in cost, payment terms and cancellation notes.
