01A new name
If you are searching for Dhigali Maldives, this is the same island. On 15 January 2026 it became Niva Dhigali Maldives, part of Niva, the lifestyle brand launched by Versa Hospitality, the company formerly known as Universal Resorts. Velassaru became Niva Velassaru on the same day.
Nothing closed: the villas, restaurants and team carried on, and guests now plan their stay and book restaurant tables through the Niva Dhigali app.
02The island
Dhigali is a long, leafy island: jungle paths run through the middle, the beach runs the length of one side and the overwater villas line the lagoon on the other. Hawksbill turtles are regulars in the shallows, and the house reef is a short swim from the beach and the Water Villas.
The look is modern and bright, white walls with pops of red, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal, with live music at sunset and a lively pool bar after dark.

LIME Wellbeing sits in the jungle with 12 treatment rooms, an outdoor plunge pool with daybeds, a steam room, a reflexology room and a meditation and yoga pavilion. Treatments lean on soothing touch, with fragrant outdoor baths.
For celebrations, the resort hosts island weddings and renewals of vows on the beach, and private beach dinners can be set up most evenings.

Yes. Dhigali Maldives became Niva Dhigali Maldives on 15 January 2026, when Versa Hospitality, formerly Universal Resorts, moved it to its new Niva brand alongside Niva Velassaru. The island, villas and team are the same.
In Raa Atoll, north of Malé. International arrivals between 6am and 3pm fly by seaplane, about 40 to 45 minutes; arrivals between 3pm and 4.30pm take a domestic flight and a speedboat instead. Departures after 7pm also go by domestic flight.
There are 172 bungalows, villas and suites, from 70 sq m Beach Bungalows to the 400 sq m Two-Bedroom Dhigali Suite. Forty-one have a private pool: the Beach Villas with Pool, Lagoon Villas with Pool, Beach Suites and the Dhigali Suite.
Yes, it is one of the better family resorts in Raa. PLAY Kids Club runs daily from 9am to 6pm for ages 4 to 12, with an indoor space and a splash zone, babysitting covers ages 2 to 12, and there is a kids pool and a games room. Beach Villas sleep four, and there are nine two-bedroom options.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at four restaurants, the café and the pizzeria, with one restaurant per meal and three courses at the à la carte venues, plus premium wines, beers, cocktails and spirits at every bar and a minibar restocked daily. It also includes snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards, one glass-bottom boat trip and one dolphin or sunset cruise. We compare it with half board when we quote.
Capers for themed buffets, Jade for Asian food, Faru for Mediterranean by the sea, Battuta for flavours from India to North Africa, plus a café, a pizzeria, East pool bar and Haali, the sunset bar. Destination dining and private beach dinners can be arranged.
A house reef with hawksbill turtles, a Euro Divers five-star PADI dive centre, mantas in Raa for much of the year, dolphin cruises, a glass-bottom boat, fishing trips, sandbank picnics and a full water sports centre. LIME Wellbeing has 12 treatment rooms in the jungle, and there is a pickleball court and a photo studio.
Couples usually love a Lagoon Villa with Pool over the water. On the beach, a Beach Villa with Pool gives you 121 sq m and ocean views. Families do well in a Beach Villa or a Two-Bedroom Beach Villa, and the Two-Bedroom Dhigali Suite, with a butler and infinity pool, is the one for celebrations.
